6 PM - Expansive Grounds (Documentary) Germany Preview
Personal exploration of the filmmaker’s identity as German caused by the
Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in the center of Berlin is at the
heart of this film.
Her observations are recorded during the years of
2003-2007, from the beginning of construction until two years after the
memorial opened to the public.
Through conversations with visitors, asking
about their feelings and emotional responses to the memorial, she was led to
reflect
on her family’s role during the Nazi era and about the significance
of collective guilt.
At its core, this is a film about the one woman’s
innermost feelings: feelings of guilt, her convictions in the 1960s, and her
attitudes today are explored in this German story of everyday life

distant every day. So when Lily discovers a small ear growing in the garden,
she nurtures the plant into her best friend. A short drama from Affolter
Entertainment, “Plant Girl” is a fantastical tale of growth, truth and hope.

E90-1248 is working as a sorter of building material in one of two towers
which are facing each other in an endless expanse of water. His life is
dedicated to the growth of the tower, because the water level is rising. When an accident happens, he finds himself in the bottom story of the
building, a place where all those people are shunted off to, whom the upper
stories of the tower can no longer accommodate. E90-1248 becomes aware of
the fact that the tower is well on its way to destroy itself and that he is
the only person able to save the human race from perishing.
8:15 PM - The Killing of Mary Surratt (Short Drama) Preview
Boardinghouse innkeeper Mary Surratt was tried, convicted and executed for
conspiring to assassinate President Lincoln. Within two months of being
charged with the crime she would be dead; swinging from the gallows in
Washington D.C.
8:45 PM - 41st Annual Emmy Winner - "Warrant Unit" (CBS TV Pilot)
9:15 PM - Academy Award nominated - Binta and The Great Idea (Short) Javier Fesser's live action short Binta and the Great Idea (AKA Binta y la
Gran Idea) - a Spanish-Senegalese co-production - concerns Binta, a
seven-year-old girl who lives with her fisherman father in a small village
on the banks of Senegal's Casamance River. Binta is fortunate and blessed
enough to be able to attend school and receive an education, but her cousin,
Soda, lacks the same privilege. Binta's humanist father suddenly has an idea
that could change the world and ease the suffering of mankind, and he
determines to implement it.
9:45 PM - Adeem (Short Drama) Lebanon Preview
In one of the tight streets of a quiet village, stood a two-story house with
a courtyard... People started gathering around the house, for today is the
wedding of one of its residents… The whole street was decorated and was fit
for a wedding. The women were preparing to receive and welcome the groom,
while the men waited in salon inside the house. Some were villagers and
others were military soldiers. The courtyard began to crowd and one of the
villagers suddenly yells at the top of his voice: “They have arrived…they
have arrived...!” Everybody runs to welcome the groom; young girls start
throwing petals and rice which was a tradition in the village. Men start
cheering...and hands start stretching outwards to caress the coffin that
just arrived, which had a large photo of the hero who had died for his
country – “The Shaheed” … he was the awaited groom. In the midst of tears
and laughter we hear a combination of sounds; heart beats, a clock ticking
and people’s faraway voices… The clock on the wall suddenly stops ticking
and the clock hands start moving in the opposite direction to take us back
in time, which relates to the fact that there is an ending for everything
and everyone.

10:30 PM - Deeper and Deeper (Suspense Thriller / Partial Nudity) Preview
The classic story of "boy meets girl" goes horribly wrong when, Ryan, a
charming young bank teller falls hard the moment he lays eyes on the
seductive, yet older, Angelica. Consumed by his curiosity, Ryan begins
stalking Angelica, desperate to know more about her. He stumbles upon the
perfect opportunity to spy on the woman of his dreams when he is hired by
Dolores as a part-time maintenance man and moves into an apartment across
the street from Angelica. As the line separating love and lust becomes
harder to define, his growing fascination sends him deeper into a bizarre
world of obsession and infatuation, but things are not always what they seem
in this twisty tale of psychological suspense.
